A Note from Alan on Ethics...
Unethical behavior in real estate is sometimes hard to spot. Usually, the damage done is not found until money is lost or a deal is consummated, leaving the consumer to filing grievances or lawsuits which take months, sometimes years, to unravel. Sometimes the consumer simply has to live with their loss, bearing the cost and headache that could have been avoided had all the parties acted in an ethical manner.

Over the span of more than 35 years in service businesses, I’ve seen blatant lack of regard for ethics and law. But what I believe to be just as problematic is when service providers sit on the ethical line. I run my companies differently. We don’t straddle the line, crossing over that ethical border just enough that a plausible explanation will keep us from a complaint. Instead, we practice ethical margin. We can make a living staying in the area that is obviously ethical, not subject to question.

I’m pleased to have a reputation in the community for solid research which sometimes finds misrepresentations or just property issues that were never addressed. Some of the area lawyers and Realtors describe my deals as ‘cases’, harkening back to my investigative background. Client advocacy with a lawful and ethical mindset is paramount. ‘By the book’ may be cumbersome but my clients and my collegial community know that I will serve them well. I’d like to serve you with the same expertise.
